Welcome to 2007! Either you are nursing an incredible hangover or you’re optimistically awaiting the New Year to get started. Me? I am sitting at the computer finishing my articles at the last minute – yet again. Though some things never change, some will change whether we like it or not.
Resolutions are not exactly my strong point. If they were, this article would have been written last week and I would be taking up at least 30 pounds less space on this earth. Neither seems to have happened despite the number of years I repeat them. (I guess that shoots that whole repetition theory of change right in the proverbial foot!) Therefore, this year I am going with the “you might as well dream big” approach. I am eternally optimistic but I am also practical. When the same old resolutions are not working, just change the game plan. This year my goal is to actually “do less” - I tend to spend my days whirling around from fire to fire, never really extinguishing one before I actually fan another one into life and “be more” - this is the whole quality and not quantity approach. In short I hope to spend less time making wind and more time simply riding in it and more time riding on two axels instead of wrapping myself around them.
For us, this year will be a very busy one with lots of changes: Some good, some the jury is still out. Kent will be reaching a milestone birthday this month and so will my daughter Melissa. The “baby” of the family, Mike, will be graduating high school this year and moving into the next phase of his life. Kent and I will continue to build and hopefully finish our hilltop house near the Blue Ridge Mountains. Lots of change, some scary but all welcomed.
2006 was very good to us. Through Virginiawind.com, we have made many new friends from such places as far away as Israel and Singapore. We have also made friends in our own backyard that we would have never met any other way. The camaraderie of motorcycling has brought us into a community that is diverse yet always supportive of each other. Kent and I can not thank you enough for your invaluable feedback, suggestions, ideas and mostly your friendship. We are always looking for new ideas and ways to improve, please let us know how we can better serve you in 2007. As we move into this new phase of our personal lives, we are grateful that we have many friends and family to accompany us on this journey of life.
I hope 2007 brings you joy, peace and fulfillment. May you spend the rest of the year in the spirit of optimism and joy that New Year provides.
