Midnight, Moonbeams and Memories

By Jeffry L’H. Tank

In a shadow-land of moonbeams
Stripped of color and grain
Grayscale images of midnight
Reveal nature’s fundamental essence.

Black-water pools of moonlight
Shimmer among the shadows.
Their rush-ringed iridescent water spirits
Dance beneath a gibbous moon.

Riding a ribbon of black
laid upon the minimal landscape thus reveled
I am merely another silhouette
Slipping silent through the night.

Secret midnight monologs
Shadow-spoken in tones of gray,
Rustle in the translucent darkness
That line the roads I roam.

Midnight moonbeam memories
Woven through the soul
Reveal their hidden secrets
For those who care to know.

Tis all but gone when day arrives
And color and texture return.
So I’ll hide from the light,
Then ride through the night
When the moon comes out to play!
