Roadsong Memories
By Jeffry LH. Tank
In the quiet light of evening
Before slumber gains my bed,
I sift through all the road songs
That crowd my weary head.
In that time before transition
From wakefulness to rest,
I revisit all the roads I’ve known;
As one almost possessed.
In sleep my ride continues
Through dale or mountain high.
A countless string of moments,
As the roadside passes by.
I ride through roadsong memories
Of all that I have seen.
They fill my nights with images
Of places I have been.
A dream-built world of sights and smells
From passages by day,
Construct my midnight travels
And guide me on my way.
So thus in sleep I travel froth
Though silent, silver nights.
Then wake ere dawn and travel on
To ride and chase the light!
