To Soar

By Jeffry L’H. Tank

To soar up high in the clear blue sky,
As often I’ve seen them do.
With wings outstretched I’d catch the wind,
Up in the sky so blue.

The cool of earth beneath my wings,
The warming sun above.
I’d gladly spend my whole life there,
With Sparrow, Hawk and Dove.

I’d give up all my worldly goods,
To dip and dive and roam.
To feel the wind rush o'er my wings,
And make the sky my home.

To see the world from up so high,
Free in a boundless sky.
If only could I be released,
I’d gladly say goodbye.

To all the earthly bonds that hold,
Me pressed to earth so dear.
To join them there in the crystal air,
Where life is fresh and clear.

I’d gladly take you if I could,
To spend our whole life thru.
And sail the wind on feathered wings,
Up in the sky so blue.
