Step fourteen. This is the final step prior to going into the booth for its initial clearing. Notice that the headlights for the center and foreground cars now have a gleaming glare coming from them. This was done in pearls and wash white. The name of the restaurant, "Twisters", was added. Neon lights around the restaurant were done using white and blue candy and pearls all built in layers to create a glowing effect. The wording on the neon street sign and a route 66 sign above the bike were also added..

Step fifteen and sixteen. View of the final polished left and right saddlebags, which are slightly different. Each has different colored cars, as well as different bikes.

Step seventeen. View of the completed front fairing, which includes Route 30, 40, 50 and 66 signs ghosted in the center of a dream catcher.

The paints used for this mural were base coats. They dry very quickly so the time to complete a job is fairly short. Once all the work is done, I will allow the job to sit for about an hour. During that time I will mix the clearcoat and get things prepared. All clearing and painting at Strader Studio is done inside a full-sized automotive spray booth. Clears are applied in several coats. Usually the first session is 3 coats and it is allowed to dry for at least 24 hours. It is then sanded down again and an additional 2-3 coats applied the following day. Afterwards, it is allowed to dry for a minimum of 24-48 hours. After that time frame, it is polished to a flawless perfection. Airbrushes used were a Omni 3000 & 4000 from Badger Airbrush Co.

About Strader Studio:
Owned and operated by Darryl "D-Dub" Strader. I have about 27 years of painting experience. We are located in Chesapeake VA. Our shop/studio is complete with a full sized spray booth. The services we provide are not just limited to motorcycles and painting. We are capable of painting full-size vehicles and "larger." Our airbrushing can be made to resemble a photograph that looks so real that you feel like you are part of the image. Our talents do not stop at airbrushing. We pinstripe, do small and large scale wall murals, illustration, and teach classes. We also travel doing shows as well. Some unique things that we do include: Flush mounted brake light and tank mounted LED assemblies. These are as "smooth as glass" to the touch. They can be cut and designed in any way imaginable and are made as part of the paint and the artwork. We also offer "Custom" sheetmetal fabrication and bike building from a rolling chassis to a full riding bike with any size motor. The colors that we use are very often "Custom made". This way a color becomes difficult to copy. We do not just paint from a can. We make every job very unique to the customer for their satisfaction. We ship Custom painted sheetmetal UPS all over the world. Feel free to stop by or call us at (757) 619-3ART. We can also be reached via email at ss@straderstudio.com
